Metronomy unveil the first single from their new album: “Old Skool”

We didn’t see that coming. While the last weeks have been very busy with new album announcements and releases, it’s Metronomy’s turn to give us some news: their new album “Summer 08” will be out July 1st!

We can already hear the first single “Old Skool”, which comes with a video clip. As usual, the band made a very original video with a special aesthetic: it’s “about not recognising anyone at a party”. In an interview to Q Magazine, Joseph Mount (leader of the band) said the upcoming album will be a sort of follow up to “Nights Out”.

“I just wanted to make an uptempo record. I wanted to try and do another record that captures that fading memory of being a bit younger and going to clubs, but with the confidence I didn’t have then.”

Indeed, we can hear that “Old Skool” is more dancefloor oriented and close to the sound of their second album. Mix Maskter Mike, from Beastie Boys, also contributed to the track and brings an hip hop touch. Hopefully the album will feature more collaborations!
