Interview #21: GXNXVS

DYLTS - GXNXVS Interview

We had the chance to interview 20-Year-old producer GXNXVS from Australia! After his first EP last year, he dropped this summer the incredibly good “Easily”, that we posted right after the release. Read this interview to discover more about him!

Hi ! Let’s start with an easy question: what does your name mean?

Yo! It’s pronounced ‘genius’. Basically just replaced the vowels with x & v.

How did you start producing music?

When I was like 13 a few of my friends at school kept talking about FL studio and making beats. I was like “Yo, I need to get this, now”. It took a while before I got my hands on it, but I haven’t stopped creating since.

You released last year “Lately”, an EP featuring 5 remixes. How did you choose these 5 songs? What was your approach to create these remixes?

Well I just wanted to choose a few tracks that I knew represented what music I liked at that time hence the name ‘Lately’. I didn’t really plan on making it an EP at the beginning; it sort of just mixed well together. The approach was different for all the tracks really. Some of them I sampled more of the original tracks and others a lot less. There wasn’t really a set formula; it was more of a ‘do your thing’ mentality for the project.

You released last month the track “Easily”. Can you tell us more about the track? Are you happy with the reactions so far?

‘Easily’ came together a little while ago, so it was dope to finally get it out to the world.

During the making of ‘Easily’ I really wanted the track to give off a different vibe than a lot of my other work and have the potential to be heard in a lot of different environments. The reaction so far has been pretty rad, I didn’t really know what to expect since it’s pretty much my first solo track.

What’s next for GXNXVS?

More music & more music. I’m just going to keep on working and focus on making good music. I’ve got some new music with CVIRO dropping sometime soon and hopefully some more tracks with a few different peeps.

What are your 5 favourite tracks at the moment?

Not in any order

What are your summer plans, are you travelling?

I’m heading over to LA next month for a little while to work with some people and just check the place out, but that’s the only plans so far. You never know what else might pop up though…

Anything you’d like to add to conclude?

Shout out to MOUNT FRANKY. Stay hydrated.

Peace <3
