Get ready for the release of Tycho’s second album, “Awake”, out March 17! Originally the solo project of Scott Hansen, Tycho evolved into a three- piece band, which makes his sound more complete. We already could hear a few extracts from the album, including the excellent instrumental song “Spectre”. With a dark atmosphere and guitars reminding of The XX, Tycho’s songs sound very melodic and powerful.
“This is the first time in my life I’ve dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” Hansen says: it seems like he did the right choice! He was influenced by places like Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Montana, where he spent a lot of time as a kid. These 8 tracks totally sound like a soundtrack to a road trip in these places.
Also known for his design work as ISO50, Scott designed the LP artwork and explains us his choice: “I created the cover art to be a symbol, or a flag, to represent this fictional region comprised of idealized elements of all these western states.”
