After interviewing Luke Million last week, we continue to chat with talented producers from the other side of the world! We asked a few questions to Elizabeth Rose, that most of you may know from her collaboration with Flight Facilities for “I Didn’t Believe”. But she also makes music on her own, being revealed with a first EP critically acclaimed, and a few remixes. She’s now back with the single “The Good Life”, a taste of her upcoming 5 track EP to be released in January 2014. Learn more about her in this interview, and enjoy her songs!
Hi Elizabeth! How are you? Where are you talking to us from?
Hello! I’m sitting in my apartment in the lower east side munching on veggie chips…mmm
You just played a few shows at CMJ Music Marathon in New York. How did that go?
Yeah they have been going well thank you! I have my final two shows today, sad to see it all come to an end.
Many people discovered you thanks to your collaboration with Flight Facilities for “I Didn’t Believe”. Do you plan other collaborations like that? I’ve read somewhere you’d like to collaborate with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs :).
I’m a big fan of TEED so that’s definitely one of my dream collaborations…or even Disclosure also! I spent some time in LA last week before CMJ doing some collars…so there’ll be a few exciting ones that are in the works….!
I noticed you have a few remixes on your Soundcloud, can we expect to hear more soon?
Yeah I love doing remixes! I put so much time into doing my next EP these past 4 months that I’ve kind of had a break from remixing to focus on that but I’m definitely getting back into it.
Can you tell us more details about your EP to be released in January?
Well it’s a 5 track EP…all new songs…and one of the tracks features another Sydney artist by the name of VCS – he sounds like Frank Ocean…..!
Fashion seems to play an important role in your shows and videos. Do you see it as complementary to your music?
Yep, definitely. I really love fashion and colour/design and it’s a lot of fun to be able to incorporate that into my shows and into my image as an artist – it’s a true extension of who I am and what I love.
Your first EP was critically acclaimed and you received a huge support since 2012 in Australia. It seems that Europe is now discovering more your music, do you plan to come play there?
Nothing is booked yet, but I have big plans for 2014 and europe is on the cards! I would love to travel across London, Berlin, France and Italy!
You’re touring in Australia in November, are you excited about it? Any place you particularly like?
Yes I’m very excited for my tour! I always love going to Melbourne for shows so I’m looking forward to going back there…and do some shopping on the side!
We’re in love with the Australian scene, what are your favorite artists from there? (We asked the same to Lancelot some time ago and he talked about you!)
Haha awesome, (thanks Lance!). There are so many great artists in Australia at the moment! But I’ll narrow it down to my top 3 which are Tame Impala, Jagwar Ma and Jonti!
Who are your 5 favorite tracks at the moment?
Defeated No More – Disclosure
Airglow Fires – Lone
Stars – Roses Gabor
Everyday I Ran – James Blake
Knock on Wood – Prefab Sprout
Thanks a lot for answering our questions Elizabeth! We’re looking forward to hearing your new EP!
