London-based producer DiscoSocks, from Heavy Disco, released last month the song “Gotta Get It Going”, that we love and shared on our Youtube channel, and it’s still on repeat!
Today, he is back with 3 disco edits, downloadable for free. They are part of the series Sock Drawer Secrets, featuring edits that he’s regularly playing in his sets. It’s always good to hear this kind of classics revisited with a more modern style. These 3 edits are guaranteed to get ya shakin’, so make sure to listen to them below and grab them.
Here is the story behind each edit:
1. Fire Fox – Round Trip Ticket: I first discovered Fire Fox via their inclusion on the soundtrack of “Breakin'”. As a group they were very much in the vein of The Pointer Sisters, which I’m sure you’ll hear in this gem. Round Trip Ticket is an overlooked album track with a enough energy to cause a complete disco meltdown on the dancefloor.
2. Kwick – Night Life: Produced by the magnificent Allen A. Jones of The Bar Kays, Kwick’s sessions yielded tons of tracks that were nothing short of weapons. There’s no hiding from this groove!
3. The Three Degrees – Giving Up, Giving In: A Giorgio Moroder produced late-night disco roller, oozing with style and sass. It peaked at #12 in the U.K. but seems rarely heard these days. Giorgio signature chomping synths power this one along beautifully.
